Hilary –Nursery Manager BA(Hons) EYP & Forest School Practitioner
I have been working in Early Years Education since 2000. I fell into Early Years by accident. I used to help out as a mum and really enjoyed it. So when an opening became available at my children’s nursery, I jumped at the opportunity. I’ve not really looked back. Initially qualifying with my Level 3 in 2004, I went on to study for an Early Years Degree, which I achieved in July 2008. I also have Early Years Professional Status (2010) and continue to update my knowledge now having have additional qualifications in both Creativity and Speech and Language Support. I am currently studying for My Forest School leader qualification. I became the Manager of St Michael’s in September 2008, and still consider myself lucky to be working in such a fantastic environment with a supportive team of colleagues and parents. I’m a farmer’s daughter so have a natural love of the outdoors and I’m delighted we have our own nursery chickens! I have two dogs, who are my babies now that my own children have both left school!

I joined St Michael's Community Nursery in 2010 as a nursery practitioner and in 2014 became the Deputy Manager. Michelle - Nursery Practitiober ~ Level 3 & Special Educational Needs Coordinator
I have three children aged 23,10 and 7. Having been a single mum with my eldest, one of my proudest moments has been seeing her graduate from university. In 2004 I met my husband and we have two children together. I qualified in 1996 with a Diploma in pre-school practice which is NVQ level 3 and then I worked my way up to manager of Peter Pan playschool in Bookham. I left in 2005 to work as a learning support assistant at the Priory School in Dorking until 2007, with the birth of my second child. During the last few years I have spent my time volunteering with under 8’s in a variety of settings. In September 2017 I will start studying for my foundation degree in Early years.
The nursery was established in 1993 by a group of parents and is run by a voluntary committee of enthusiastic parents who have the common goal of providing a high standard of nursery education locally.
